A dish of tripe, oxtail, or pork leg mixed with fresh vegetables cooked in peanut sauce, is one of the most festive Filipino dishes. Kare-kare is best served with a native shrimp paste “bagoong”, and sliced green mangoes on the side.
1 kilo meat, cut up
6-8 cups water
1 pack McCormick Kare-Kare Mix, 60g
1 small banana heart, sliced crosswise
2 small eggplant, cut diagonally, 1” thick
1 bundle sitaw (string beans), cut into 2” length
1. Boil meat until tender.
2. Stir in McCormick Kare-Kare Mix
3. Add in fresh vegetab;es and cook in medium heat
4. Simmer until sauce thickens.
Serve hot with bagoong
